About TC 26

Late 2007 marked a significant event for the Russian cryptography. A former Rostechregulirovanie on December 28, 2007 established a technical committee for standardization "Cryptography and security mechanisms", which received the abbreviated name of TC 26. This order approved Regulation on the on it, its structure and a list of organizations (companies) who are its members. In March 2008 the first meeting of TC 26 "Cryptography and security mechanisms" took place.

By the order of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology of 12.08.2011 № 4402, the full member of the Academy of Cryptography of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor A.Kuzmin was approved as the Chairman of TC 26.

As the Vice-Chairmen of TC 26 were approved Ph.D. Igor Kachalin and CEO "InfoTeCS" Andrew Chapchaev (as Executive Secretary of TC 26 too) early.

Russian Federal Security Service, a federal body of executive power, which provides information security of the Russian Federation within its authority, supervises the activities of the Technical Committee on the functional and substantive content of standardization in the field of cryptographic protection of information constituting a state secret or are attributable to the protected in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation restricted information, and perform other functions relating to issues of organization of the development, adoption and application documents on standardization of encryption (cryptographic) protection, as well as issues of their use in secure systems.

Rosstandard as the national authority of the Russian Federation for Standardization, provides methodological guidance to the technical committee and coordinating its activities with other technical committees to work in the field of data protection using cryptographic tools.

Thus is created a permanent collegial body to organize the development and examination of projects of national, interstate (regional) and international standards enshrined in the field of activity, provide an analysis of technical regulations and standards for their renovation and future use, as well as other functions.
